This padang, situated at Tupai Road, belongs to the Taiping Town Council, if I'm not wrong. As kids we used to play football there. To the left of the building there still stand some TTC's staff quarters. Facing this building on the other side of Tupai Road was a rambutan orchard which used to belong Mr "Bulldog" Lim Swee Chin (KE teacher and brother of Dr. Lim Swee Aun) who kept some hunting dogs at the orchard in the late 50's. Talking about padang, has anyone been to Jalan Padang lately? The last time I was in Taiping I paid a visit there. I was shocked to see that the place was in a real mess with the field overgrown with lallang and thick undergrowth. It was practically a jungle! So sad to see a good field gone to waste.
