Hornbills can be found in this area. The Taiping Lake Garden was formerly an abandoned tin mine. It was converted to a park in 1884. It was the first public park in Malaya.

I was back in TPG recently and did a few morning walks around the Lakes. Its so beautiful - only pictures like yours can show fully its natural beauty. However I am disappointed with all the rubbish and thrash (plastic bags, paper boxes and wrappings, etc) that are strewn every where. Its people's attitudes and these will not change unless the town council starts to impose penalty for littering. Hopefully lots more are done by the town council to clean up the lakes!
