There used to be many rubber estates near Kuala Kangsar. A very big estate I can remember was the Kemuning Estate which was in Sungei Siput about 20 miles south of KK. There were also many small rubber smallholdings . A shop like those shown in this pic buys scrap rubber from the smallholders.

This shop is still there. This morning (20 April 2021) I took a drive with InstantStreetView.com and I saw the signboard.

Inside the shop you can see this photo proudly displayed. Taken in 1965, it shows the late Sultan Idris presenting an award to (most likely) the owner of the shop for services rendered to the royal town.
