I wonder how many of these phonebooths are left. This looks still in good condition. The other one I've seen is in front of the Smokehouse in Cameron Highlands.

Hi Joe,
You are right about the red phonebooth in front of Smokehouse in Cameron Highlands. In fact I have pics. taken standing by that red phonebooth. This red phonebooth looks so sweet and attractive with the white Land Office as the background. I saw more than ten of these red phonebooths somewhere around Damansara Jaya. Those red phone booths were left standing at the cul de sac of one of the roads of this double storey housing estate. Not sure if they are still there.
Kayes, thanks for this lovely pic. of the red phonebooth against the magnificent Land Office.

Orange, that red phone booth in Taiping is actually placed at the old clock tower, outside the Taiping Tourist Association office.

No wonder I didn't see this red phonebooth while I was in the Land Office. Saw the Museum but not this clock tower.

Hi Orange
G R meant George Rex,possibly in the reign of King George the VI,which,I think, would have made it just after WW2.If I have my Kings right

I could be wrong Orange, the Post Box,we speak of could have been erected pre-WW2,though I doubt the Japanese Occupation Forces would have let it stand. If it was erected pre WW2 then it could even have been during the reign of George the V,which would make it between 1914-1936.His son,George the VI reigned from 1936-1952.A small point, but allow me to say that the Telephone Box in TAIPING is indicative of our differences in behaviour.Such an Icon would not survive, outside of a Museum,in this Country, without being vandalised.I still remember using such phone boxes and the old equipment in them

Jim Joyce is incorrect when he stated that GR stood for George Rex. It actually stands for George's Reign just like EIIR which means Elizabeth Seconds reign. In this case it was George 6th reign.

Love the present sweet colour of this clock tower. Don't wish to see it in any other colour, please!!
Anyone knows if the renovation/maintenance of the Taiping Lake Garden has been completed? Hoping and wishing that faithful bridge still remains RED.

Harimau, check the court documents in cases where the Crown Prosecutes, you will find Regina v Whoever,Regina being the Queen. In cases where the current Monarch is Male you will find it to be Rex v Whoever.GR meant George Rex,ER means Elizabeth Regina

Saw two of these phonebooths at OU, in front of Hang Ten. One was red while the other one was purple. I think they are replicas.
