This is how I always remember the Lake Garden- the tall majestic Rain Trees with their graceful branches arching down to the water's edge. The Lake Garden has changed a fair bit since I played and cycled here and I am sorry to say that not all changes have been good. Prefer it natural with less concrete structures.
The Rain Tree is also known in some places as Monkeypod. They are excellent hosts for epiphytic plants. I have noticed that the Rain Trees in Taiping are host to many orchid species but not those in Ipoh. Perhaps Taiping is wetter than Ipoh and therefore more conducive for orchids.
