Hi

My name is Kevin and I live in Australia but I was born in Taiping. The last time I was in Taiping was 1994 and I will be visiting in October this year. My grand parents are buried in the cemetery that you have in your phot gallery (I think). I would not be able to recognise the town much, although i do remember Lake Gardens and Maxwell Hill quite fondly. I was wondering if you can tell me of a nice hotel where my wife and I can spend the night. We will be arriving by bus from Teluk Intan via Ipoh I'd say. I spent a lot of time in Taiping in the 70's but I'm sure a lot has changed since.

Thanks.

hi Kevin and welcome to Taiping Talk Smile I would suggest you stay at the Furama Hotel which is a few steps away from the Lake Garden. Small hotel but clean and comfortable. Superb wifi.

Thanks for the suggestion kayes. I've been looking through your photos to try to jog my memory. They are great!! The streets in town remind me of a place where we used to buy chendol. And I do have fond memories of the food market. I'm really enjoying browsing through the photos. Thanks.

Hi Kayes and all

I too live in Australia (Perth) and we plan to you could say 'come home' for a day trip or possibly even a few days stay in April 2010. We left in 1977 and I think I have been back to Taiping once since then, about 20 years ago.

Can't wait to visit Taiping again, only have one relative left there. Can't wait to shop till I drop and eat till I burst. Hope the food is still as good.

Cheers, Carol (Ka Heng)
