I am afraid I have to kill the myth of porcupines being able to shoot their quills in time of danger to protect themselves! They cannot do that but if they shake themselves a few quills might fall off without causing injury to anyone. The quills are actually modified hairs made of keratin, similar the the substance found in our hair and nails. This is most probably our Malayan porcupine.
